    Middle Moments

    Each day I ride the MAX train to work. Here in Portland, Oregon the transit system is a fantastic way to save money, see the diversity in the area, and have a simple moment to breathe. However, each morning begins with a rush to catch the train. I–and each passenger boarding with me–seem to always be fast walking or running as the train approaches the stop. We hear the familiar bells signaling the arrival of the train. We take a deep breath, watch the train pull up, and step inside hoping to get a seat.
